Star Bristol City man Bobby Reid has discussed his adaption from midfielder to striker and his pride at representing his local side, in an interview with The Boot Room.

The 24-year-old has been nothing short of sensational since manager Lee Johnson opted to utilise the player in a more attack-minded role, with Reid notching an impressive nine goals in sixteen Championship appearances since making the switch.

Reid’s form has gone a long way in helping the Robins to their excellent league position, with Johnson’s side flying high in fourth place, just three points away from the automatic promotion places.

Of his positional change, Reid said: “I’m more comfortable in the striker role and it’s allowed me to shine and play regularly.

“I’ve worked hard over the summer to make sure I was right and I’m reaping the benefits now.

“I do see it as my long-term position now.”

Having been at the club for 15 years since joining as a nine-year-old in 2002, Reid knows exactly what it means to represent his local side.

“It’s special for the likes of myself and Joe (Bryan), coming through the youth system to play for your local club,” the Bristol born forward said.

“We want to help the club reach the Premier League; that’s our aim and the club’s aim.”

The Verdict

Reid is one of the hottest properties in the Football League right now, and his words will come as a delight to Robins fans, who will be ecstatic that one of their own is having such a significant impact upon their surge for Premier League football.

If Reid can lead his local side to their first ever top flight season, he will go down in history as one of the all time greats at the club, and this is something the young star is evidently set upon achieving.

If he continues his excellent form and the rest of Johnson’s squad follow suit, the Robins could be a serious contender for a shock promotion to the nirvana of the Premier League.
