Fulham defender Terence Kongolo has shared a fresh social-media update after being ruled out for the rest of the season with a foot injury.

Kongolo completed his loan switch from Huddersfield to Fulham during the January transfer window, but the Dutchman only managed to make two appearances for the West London outfit before sustaining his season-ending injury.

The 26-year-old picked up the problem during his Championship debut for the Cottagers against Blackburn earlier this month, with Kongolo suffering a knock during his nine-minute appearance after coming off the substitutes' bench.

Kongolo has now taken to Instagram to share an image of him on a hospital bed as he begins his road to recovery:

The former Monaco man has now received some messages of support from his new team-mates following his significant blow, with Fulham attackers Bobby Reid and Ivan Cavaleiro taking to Instagram to offer their backing of Kongolo.

The Verdict

This injury will come as bad news for Scott Parker and Fulham given Kongolo was recruited to add defensive reinforcement to the side, and the Cottagers will now need to manage with the players they currently have until the summer.

Kongolo would have been targeting a fresh start at Craven Cottage after falling out of favour under Huddersfield boss Danny Cowley towards the end of 2019, and the Dutchman would have been hoping to push for a permanent move to Fulham.

However, Kongolo can only now put every effort into ensuring he will be fully fit for the start of pre-season, but it will be interesting to see whether the defender will be at Fulham or back at Huddersfield when the new season comes around.
