Boardroom insider confirms Charlton exits

Published

on

Marian Mihail has been fielding questions from the Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust – via the club’s website – and has confirmed that both Matt Southall and Jonathan Heller are not a part of the club’s board of directors.

The Addicks have been through the mill once again in recent months thanks to a boardroom battle, though it looks as though HE Tahnoon Nimer and co. have won out and Matt Southall and Jonathan Heller have been shown the door.

For fans of the club, the hope will be that the case is now closed and things can move on – though that is easier said than done, they will be all too aware.

Who was Charlton's first game of 2020 against?

Even so, Mihail has confirmed the pair are not on the board of directors at the club any longer.

He said:

“Matt Southall and Jonathan Heller have been removed from the club’s Board of Directors.

“Matt Southall continues to be on the ESI board as a B director as is his right as a B shareholder. Jonathan Heller was appointed to the ESI board independently and has not expressed an intention on leaving.

“I must reiterate neither are involved at the club or in the decision making. As to why they remain on the ESI board, you are best off directing your questions to them.”

The Verdict

The duo are obviously still a part of ESI but it is clear that they are no longer involved with Charlton – or so it seems.

Addicks fans just want a bit of clarity from those meant to be running the club, and they’ll hope that they are nearing the end of yet another boardroom fiasco.

All they want is a decently run club that’s getting results on the pitch and that comes from organisation at the very top.

If they can move to get things in order in that area, there’s no reason why the rest won’t fall into place.
