Scottish club Celtic are the favourites to sign former Marseille and Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher, according to Sky Bet Odds.

The club will be looking for a striker, with new boss Brendan Rodgers hoping to freshen up the Glasgow-based side's squad ahead of a campaign, which will see the return of the Old Firm derby to the top flight of Scottish football.

Amongst the other clubs interested in signing Fletcher, who scored 23 in 94 games for the Black Cats, is Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.

Carlos Carvalhal masterminded a run to the play-off final in his first season at Hillsborough, and may be looking for another striker as they don't have many options outside of the obvious choices of Gary Hooper and Fernando Forestieri.

This news comes just a day after the Scottish champions, Premier League Hull City and recently relegated Aston Villa were linked with a move for the 29-year old, who still has plenty to give and could be suited to the second tier.

Aston Villa will also be looking to refresh their squad after an abysmal season in the Premier League saw them relegated to the Championship with just 17 points, after a campaign in which they scored just 27 goals. A new striker would therefore be the obvious target.

Sheffield Wednesday fans, what do you make of this news? Would you welcome Fletcher to the club, or could you do better?

Aston Villa fans, are you disappointed that your club may not be signing Fletcher after all? Let us know your opinions below!
