Charlton Athletic striker Lyle Taylor has hit out at former Addicks executive chairman Matt Southall and labelled him a fraud, which has been well received by fans of the South London club.

Southall was appointed to his former role when East Street Investments originally agreed a deal to purchase the club from Roland Duchâtelet and is understood to have secured a 35% stake in the club when the takeover was completed in January.

He has since been removed from his position at the club after a nasty boardroom dispute with majority shareholder Tahnoon Nimer was played out on social media.

The EFL announced last month that they were investigating ESI's takeover, and the involvement of Southall, over potential misconduct.

Southall's future involvement with Charlton appears unclear but it is understood he is looking for a high six-figure sum for his stake in the club.

Speaking on The Beautiful Game podcast, Taylor has taken aim at the former Addicks executive chairman.

He said: "He's a fraud. He's a fraud. It's that simple. He's a fraud."

Taylor added: "(When he came into the club) I had his number, I already knew. I knew everything about him because I spoke to plenty of people. Plenty of people have got enough to say about him.

"That's people who know him personally and that's people that have had business dealings with him. I know him, I know who he is, I know his character.

"Now, what he has come and done. This isn't the first time he has come and done stupid stuff like this. That's all I'm going to say on that."
