Aston Villa look nailed on to make the Championship playoffs this season after a decent season under Steve Bruce, despite the disappointment of not being able to sustain a top two challenge.

The Villans have put in some decent performances over the course of the season, and will no doubt be many people's tip for the end of season shootout for a place back in the top flight.

The summer promises to be an interesting one, with the club set to spend if they do go up, but likely to keep the purse strings somewhat tighter if they fail to reach the promised land of the top flight and its riches.

However, one player who we at FLW think the club should eye up regardless is Sheffield United midfielder John Fleck, who has taken to Championship football like a duck to water after a hugely impressive season in League One last time out.

Fleck, a former Ranger and Coventry City man, has made the central midfield spot his own for the Blades, and it's very much a case of Fleck plus another for Chris Wilder in terms of his team selections.

A classy operator on the ball and good on the dead ball, Fleck has surprised many by how at ease he has been in the second tier. He can, and will, only get better, and the prospect of playing for a club like Villa, who have genuine Premier League ambitions, could be a chance he will not turn down.

Blades and Villa fans, what do you think? Would this move work? Let us know in the comments!
