After securing promotion to the Championship via the play-offs last year, it was always going to be interesting to see how Blackpool would fare at this level.

The Seasiders went on to produce a host of promising performances as they managed to seal a 16th place finish in the league standings.

Having recently opted to appoint Michael Appleton as their head coach following Neil Critchley's departure, Blackpool will now be looking to sign some new players ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

Set to face Reading at Bloomfield Road on July 30th, the Seasiders could boost their chances of securing a positive result in this clash if they nail their recruitment.

Here, we have decided to share what we believe would be Blackpool's best 5-a-side team using members of their current squad.

Check it out below!

Goalkeeper Daniel Grimshaw gets into the team ahead of Chris Maxwell and Stuart Moore.

During the previous campaign, the 24-year-old played the most league games out of these three players (26) and also kept the most clean-sheets in the Championship (9).

In terms of the defence, Marvin Ekpiteta is the obvious choice for the centre-back position.

Ekpiteta made 1.3 tackles and 1.3 interceptions per game in the second-tier and averaged an impressive WhoScored match rating of 7.06 in the Championship.

Named as the fans' player of the season, there is every chance that the defender would thrive in this particular setting.

Kenny Dougall is accompanied in the more advanced positions by Josh Bowler.

Having made 2.5 tackles per game in the Championship last season, Dougall will be more than capable of providing support at both ends of the pitch as he was also directly involved in six goals at this level.

As for Bowler, he would fancy his chances of causing issues for his opponents as he managed to find the back of the net on eight occasions in the previous term.

Shayne Lavery would lead the line in this 5-a-side team as he was Blackpool's top-scorer (10) in all competitions last season.
