After winning the League One play-off final at Wembley, Blackpool will now return to Championship football for the first time in seven seasons.

The Seasiders had an excellent 2021 to break into the play-off positions, before putting in three scintillating performances to earn the club a place back in England's second-tier.

Blackpool have been one of the Championship's busier teams thus far, predominantly using the free and the loan markets to prepare themselves for the rigours of the season ahead.

Neil Critchley has seemingly struck the perfect balance in signing promising talent and second-tier experience ahead of the upcoming campaign, but it seems that he could still add to the squad before the window shuts at the end of August.

Seasiders make transfer decision over Premier League defender

Blackpool have opted against signing Leicester City right-back Mitch Clark, according to the Blackpool Gazette.

The 22-year-old graduated through the academy at Aston Villa but swapped the West Midlands for the east in 2019.

Clark spent some time with Critchley's side on trial, but the former Liverpool man has since decided that he will not sign the Premier League full-back.

Blackpool seem short in the right-back area going into the new season, however, they remain in pursuit of Nottingham Forest's Jordan Gabriel, who spent last season with the club.

Blackpool join chase for in-demand 30 y/o

Blackpool emerged as one of three Championship clubs who are interested in signing former Middlesbrough left-sided player Marvin Johnson, as reported by Yorkshire Live.

Hull City and Millwall were named as the other two second clubs in pursuit, whilst Sheffield Wednesday of League One were also accredited with interest.

Johnson featured 42 times for Boro last season, scoring three goals and providing five assists in the process.

Arsenal's Tyreece John-Jules signs

Blackpool have secured the loan signing of young forward Tyreece John-Jules on a season-long loan deal from Arsenal.

The 20-year-old, whose 2020/21 campaign was largely disrupted by injury, scored five times and assisted a further three in 13 starts for Doncaster Rovers.

It seems that Daniel Ballard's progression with The Seasiders has helped pave a way for the Championship club to sign the highly-rated front-man.
