Blackpool are gearing themselves up for their first season back in League One since the 2015/16 campaign, following promotion last season via the League Two play-offs.

The 'Tangerines' beat Exeter City 2-1 at Wembley, to confirm their place in English football's third tier next season.

Manager Gary Bowyer built a squad capable of promotion, during his first season in charge at Bloomfield Road, and everyone connected with the club will be hoping that he is able to bring in the correct players again this summer to ensure that Blackpool have another good campaign next season.

The club have already been busy in the transfer market with plenty of comings and goings, most notably the departures of goalkeeper Sam Slocombe and defender Tom Aldred, with the latter joining League One rivals Bury on a two year deal.

The club have replaced Slocombe with Ben Williams who joins from Bury, but will be looking to fill the void left by Aldred at the heart of the defence.

With this in mind the club should look to sign former Manchester United and England defender Wes Brown.

Speculation mounted following the end of the 2016/2017 season, that Brown would be joining League Two Crewe Alexandra, but that move has not materialised, leaving Brown a free agent and looking for a new club.

The former Manchester United defender, who made over 200 appearances for the 'Red Devils' during his 15 years with the club, could provide useful experience both on and off the pitch at Bloomfield Road, and with the departure of Tom Aldred, could certainly step in and fill the void next season.
