It's fair to say that Blackpool defied expectation this season, by getting promoted from League Two via the play-offs.

With all the turmoil off the pitch, the 'Seasiders' took just over 5,000 supporters to Wembley for the play-off final against Exeter City, where they ran out 2-1 victors and will be playing League One football next season.

Manager Gary Bowyer joined the Lancashire outfit in May 2016 and was given a one year rolling contract, which saw him gain promotion with the club in his first season in charge.

Following the side's promotion, the club released no fewer than 10 players, including Jack Payne who made 44 appearances for Blackpool this season and also started the game at Wembley.

With Bowyer looking to assemble a side capable of competing in League One, it is clear to see from the numbers released that he is looking to have quality over quantity next season.

The club were built on solid foundations at the back this season, conceding just 46 goals in the league campaign, the third best defensive record, and were also free scoring in front of goal as they found the back of the net on 69 occasions.

Making the step up in leagues, the club are going to have to bring in some quality players to enable them to compete, and with this in mind they should turn to Manchester United midfielder Josh Harrop.

The attacking midfielder can play either just behind the striker or on the right wing, offering versatility in his game.

This season, the youngster found the back of the net on 8 occasions for Manchester United's under-23 squad, including a hat trick against Tottenham Hotspur, which caught the eye of Jose Mourinho.

The Man United boss then gave him his first team debut against Crystal Palace on the final day of the Premier League season, and the youngster seized his opportunity as he scored the game's opening goal.

Harrop is a midfielder that will find the back of the net for you and also can create opportunities for his teammates, with the starlet also showing that he will seize opportunities given to him, following his debut goal for the 'Red Devils'.

If Blackpool were to sign him this summer, they would be getting an energetic youngster who shows plenty of commitment and could go on to have a big future in the game.
