Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has joined Blackpool on loan until the end of the season, the League One side have announced.

Dewsbury-Hall who has been a regular for Leicester at Under 23 level in the past few years, made his senior debut for the Foxes on Saturday afternoon, coming on as a 68th-minute substitute in his side's 1-0 win at Brentford in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

The 21-year-old is now set to spend the rest of the campaign at Bloomfield Road, where he will look to help Blackpool secure their place in League One play-off places over the next few months.

Speaking to Blackpool's official website following confirmation of the deal, Dewsbury-Hall said: “It’s been a whirlwind of a 72 hours. On Saturday I made my debut for the first-team in the FA Cup, then the next day I travelled here to get this loan deal sorted.

"I’m really excited to come here and get some games under my belt. Hopefully I can make a difference to the team and see where it takes us.”

Discussing the deal, Blackpool manager Simon Grayson added: “Kiernan is a player we’ve watched closely for a while now, so we’re delighted that we’ve been able to bring him in. He’s very highly thought of at Leicester and I’d like to thank the club for allowing him to continue his development with us.

"He’ll be another terrific addition to the squad and we’re looking forward to working with him.”

Blackpool are currently 15th in the League One table, eight points adrift of the play-off places after a run of eight games without a win in all competitions.

The Seasiders are next in action on Tuesday night when they travel to Wycombe Wanderers, where Dewsbury-Hall may be in line to make his debut.

The Verdict

This could be a useful signing for Blackpool.

It certainly seems as though Desbury-Hall is a player with plenty of potential, and that is something that the Seasiders could now be in line to benefit from over the next few months.

For the midfielder himself, this also looks to be a decent opportunity, considering that, at 21-years-old, he should be playing senior football on a regular basis, something this move should give him the chance to do.

Having been busy with a number of signings this month, it seems as though Blackpool have made a clear statement of intent at the start of 2020 that they will be going all out for a place in the Championship between now and the end of the season.
