Sky Bet League One side Blackpool have joined Swindon Town in the race to sign Bradford City forward Eoin Doyle this summer, according to reliable journalist Alan Nixon.

The 31-year-old ended up as City's leading goalscorer last season, scoring 11 goals and producing five assists for Gary Bowyer's side, but was unable to prevent the Bantams from being relegated to League Two.

A proven goalscorer in League One, Doyle scored 16 goals in 34 games for Oldham Athletic in the 2017/18 campaign, with former Latics boss Richie Wellens believed to be looking to bring him to Swindon Town this summer.

But the Robins will reportedly face competition from Blackpool, who will be looking to add firepower to their front-line ahead of next season in League One.

Armand Gnanduillet ended up as the Tangerines' leading goalscorer last season with 13 strikes to his name, with the Lancashire club looking to progress under new ownership next term.

Doyle still has one year remaining on his current deal at Valley Parade, so it remains to be seen whether Bradford look to cash in this summer, rather than let him leave potentially on a free transfer next year.

The Verdict

I think that Doyle would be an excellent signing for Blackpool in League One, and it would be a massive coup for Swindon Town if they managed to lure him to the County Ground this summer too.

He is a proven goalscorer in League One and League Two, and even though Bradford fans will say that he didn't have the best of seasons last time out, he still scored 11 goals in all competitions.

He will look to put last season's disappointment behind him, and a move away could be the best move for him this summer.
