Blackpool hold talks over permanent signings of Premier League duo

According to The Bournemouth Echo, Blackpool are in talks with two Premier League youngsters over possible permanent deals.

Blackpool have agreed a joint fee to bring AFC Bournemouth duo Joe Quigley and Harry Cornick to the club and now they will hold discussions over personal terms with the pair.

The Tangerines are looking to spend the money that they received for Brad Potts (who recently departed to join Barnsley) and improve their squad ahead of the League One campaign.

Harry Cornick and Joe Quigley have emerged as major targets for Blackpool and they are now pursuing a double deal.

Cornick is a versatile attacking midfielder who can play out wide, up front or behind the striker.

The 22-year-old has only ever managed one senior game for Bournemouth (in the FA Cup win over Gillingham) but he has plenty of experience of the lower leagues with loan spells at the likes of Yeovil Town, Leyton Orient and Gillingham.

Luton Town are rivalling Blackpool for his signature.

Joe Quigley has also struggled to make his senior breakthrough at Bournemouth, owing to their rise to Premier League football.

The 20-year-old has had various loan spells and was most recently with Gillingham in League One.

Blackpool now want the 6ft 3in Republic of Ireland under-21 forward to add a presence up front for them in League One.

The Verdict

Depending on the price that Blackpool are paying, this could be a wise move.

Both players have senior experience at League One level and are very young so they will only get better with more game time.

This is potentially a good way to invest the Brad Potts money.
