Blackpool have taken Newcastle United midfielder Mo Sangare on trial, Lancs Live journalist Sean McGinlay has reported.

Having come through the youth ranks at Newcastle, the 23-year-old has never made a senior appearance for the Magpies.

Indeed, Sangare's only previous first-team club experience came during a loan spell with Accrington Stanley last season, where he made four appearances across all competitions.

But with his contract at Newcastle expiring at the end of this season, it seems as though Sangare is now being given the opportunity to earn an opportunity elsewhere, ahead of the start of the 2022/23 campaign.

According to this update from McGinlay, Sangare featured for Blackpool's Under Under 23s as a trialist in a 4-1 defeat to their coutnerparts from Liverpool on Monday, producing an impressive performance in the process.

Following their promotion from League One last season, Blackpool have enjoyed a solid return to the Championship in the current campaign, sitting 16th in the second-tier table, 24 points clear of the relegation zone.

The Verdict

You do feel as though it is worth Blackpool taking a look at Sangare here.

Given he has yet to feature for Newcastle, and with the funds the Magpies have to strengthen their squad, you get the feeling the 23-year-old will find it very hard to establish himself at St James' Park.

As a result, it would be no surprise if Sangare was to leave Newcastle when his contract expires at the end of this season, especially if they are willing to let him go out and play trial matches for other clubs.

That could mean that Blackpool may be able to pick him up for next to nothing in the summer, which could be a useful bit of business as they look to build on a decent return to the Championship this season.
