Blackpool are said to be lining up a move for Crewe Alexandra winger Owen Dale this summer, as per a recent report by The Sun on Sunday.

The 22-year-old attacker is one of many talented youngsters who have come off the Sky Bet League One club's production line in recent years could well be tempted by a move to the Championship side.

Blackpool are said to be open to offering a fee of £500,000 for the player, however it is stated in the same report that the Railwaymen would be looking for at least double that amount.

Crewe have already lost Charlie Kirk to Charlton Athletic this summer and would be understandably keen to hold on to another of their most talented assets.

Dale's current contract at Gresty Road expires next summer, however the third tier club are said to have the option to extend the deal by a further year should they choose to do so.

The winger has made over 100 appearances for his boyhood club to date.

The Verdict

This would be a very exciting move for Blackpool to make, as Dale has shown time and time again that he is far too good to be plying his trade in League One.

The player himself would no doubt be keen to move to the Championship, however there may be some question marks over whether the Seasiders could actually afford a deal for the 22-year-old.

Most of Blackpool's signings so far this window have been free transfers and loans, so this transfer would represent a substantially large outlay for a club of their size if they were to go through with it.

Crewe will drive a hard bargain and it will certainly be interesting to see if Blackpool choose to stay the course for a player who is now into the final year of his contract at the time of writing.
