Blackpool are one of a number of Championship clubs looking to secure the signing of Ebou Adams.

The Forest Green star has reportedly caught the eye of Blackpool, according to a report by Football Insider.

The former Norwich City player has only six months left on his current contract, and Blackpool are in the market for a midfielder this January. The club have reportedly enquired about Adams' availability.

The Gambian international is currently in Cameroon representing his country in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Adams, 25, has appeared 21 times for the Sky Bet League Two leaders this season and has been a key player for this side top of the table.

Blackpool are currently 12th in the Championship table. Neil Critchley’s side are seven points adrift of the play-off places. The Tangerines won their most recent league game, defeating Hull City 1-0.

However, they were dumped out of the FA Cup by Hartlepool in the Third Round, losing 2-1.

Critchley’s men next face Millwall on January 22 at Bloomfield Road. Millwall are directly above Blackpool in the table, with the sides level on points. However, Gary Rowett’s side have two games in hand.

The Verdict

Adams has been an important player for Forest Green this season, and that he has made the Gambian national team is a testament to his ability.

With only six months remaining on his current contract, the transfer fee involved should surely be relatively low. That significantly reduces the risk of bringing a player up two divisions.

This will also really help pad out the squad, with Adams unlikely to jump straight into the starting team. Instead, he could be used as very valuable squad depth, which is so essential for success in the Championship.
