Free-agent Martin Paterson has been offered to Blackpool after the club have turned to the ‘out of contract’ market to bolster their squad, reports the Blackpool Gazette.
Paterson could become the Tangerines’ latest summer signing after his contract at MLS side Orlando City was mutually terminated.
The ex-Burnley striker has left the American side due to ‘personal issues’ that have seen him continue his struggle as a professional footballer .
Last season, the 28-year-old had a loan move from Huddersfield to Fleetwood hampered by injury after just three games – he is clearly having a tough time making an impact in football at this moment.
After joining Orlando back in January, the striker made the move permanent this summer but found his move cut short after failing to make the move work.
He is now a free-agent and looking for a new club, with Blackpool seemingly the most likely destination for the striker as the club look to push for promotion back to the Championship.
What remains to be seen however, is whether or not the club and player feel a move is right at this moment in time.
However, Paterson will be looking to improve his fortunes as he puts the past behind him.
The Tangerines currently sit rock bottom of Sky Bet League One and have failed to win a match yet this season, so fans of the club will be hoping Paterson can add an element of experience and firepower to the club.
