Jamie Devitt is attracting interest from both Plymouth Argyle and Blackpool as they join Swindon Town in the race to sign the midfielder according to reliable journalist, Alan Nixon.

It had been reported by Nixon that Swindon were interested in signing Devitt, who was one of Carlisle's standout players last season in League Two.

It's clear to see why Devitt is a player in demand, as he netted 11 league goals for the League Two side in last year's campaign, and he'll be keen to build on those impressive showings.

Blackpool's reported interest will be intriguing to hear as Devitt will surely be tempted by the prospect of playing in League One next season.

He's got an eye for goal and is certainly capable of making the step up to the third tier of English football, and it seems as though Carlisle are fighting a losing battle to retain his services heading into the summer.

The News and Star have also recently reported that Devitt has turned down a new contract with Carlisle, which could have been their last chance to convince him to stay.

His current deal with the League Two side expires at the end of June, and it's looking increasingly likely that he will be heading for the exit door.

The Verdict:

He's a player in demand.

I'll admit that I've not seen a lot of Devitt from last season, but he's clearly a player that has something about him if he's wanted by a trio of clubs.

An interesting summer awaits and I'd be surprised if he stayed with Carlisle.
