Blackpool are still waiting to have confirmation that their recent summer signing Adi Yussuf will be allowed to join League Two side Macclesfield Town on loan this season, as reported by the Blackpool Gazette.

The transfer deadline has passed, with the Silkmen still keen to add the former Solihull Moors man to their ranks. They've started brightly in League Two, despite seeing manager Sol Campbell leave the club. They're currently seventh, with ten points from six matches.

The striker is currently on international duty with Tanzania, but upon his return is hoping to bolster the attacking options at Moss Rose. However, the situation at Macclesfield is complicated with the side struggling to pay their bills on a number of occasions last season.

They were placed under a transfer embargo in the summer and although a deal has been agreed by the two clubs, the EFL has yet to ratify the loan switch.

Yussuf started his career at Leicester City and has since played for Lincoln City, Oxford City, Mansfield Town and Grimsby Town, before a move to Solihull. He caught the eye last season in the FA Cup where he hit a brace against Blackpool, resulting in a summer move to Bloomfield Road.

The Verdict

This is a strange situation for the club to be in. Yussuf was a Terry McPhillips signing and since they added Joe Nuttall and Ryan Hardie, Yussuf has tumbled down the pecking order.

Regular football is surely what he needs to progress, but the Macclesfield situation is complicated. They struggled to pay players on a number of occasions and despite their bright start, they're still in a precarious position financially.

The EFL are surely keen to make sure that the Silkmen can pay their players before they add another to their ranks, exasperating the problem further.
