Blackpool and Sheffield United played out a goalless draw at Bloomfield Road on Wednesday night, as both continued their push for a Championship play-off place.

With neither side able to find a breakthrough, both sides were ultimately forced to settle for a point, leaving the hosts 13th in the second-tier standings, seven points off the play-offs.

Sheffield United meanwhile, now sit eighth in the table, and are just one point adrift of QPR, who currently occupy the final play-off spot.

So with that in mind, we've taken a look at some of the big questions from that clash between Blackpool and Sheffield United, that may have emerged in the wake of that goalless draw.

What happened?

Although neither side were able to get on the score sheet, both had their chances to do so over the course of the 90 minutes.

Billy Sharp and Rhys Norrington-Davies both had chances early on for Sheffield United, before Josh Bowler fired an effort off the underside of the crossbar for the Seasiders.

After the break, CJ Hamilton and Bowler would fire off target from good areas for Blackpool, before, Oliver Norwood thought he had put the visitors ahead when he fired home, only to see it ruled out for offside, with a Sheffield United man obscuring the view of Tangerines 'keeper Dan Grimshaw.

Blackpool then had a chance to win it late on when substitute Charlie Kirk looked to get on to a through ball in stoppage time, but was unable to get there in time to turn home, leaving both sides with a point.

Who impressed?

For Blackpool, Jordan Thorniley made a strong return to Blackpool's centre of defence after missing the win at Swansea on Saturday through injury, helping to repel the Sheffield United press.

At the other end, Josh Bowler once again posed a big threat for the Seasiders, as his stock continues to rise with the attacking threat he poses to defences at this level.

From a Sheffield United perspective, John Egan produced a much improved display from his difficult afternoon in the weekend thrashing by Coventry, to cope well with the physical threat of Gary Madine.

Elsewhere, Ben Osborn also won credit for applying himself well for the Blades while playing in a somewhat unnatural right wing-back position.

Who disappointed?

Given the impressive nature of the performance, it would feel somewhat harsh to criticise any of Blackpool's players too much.

However, Kenny Dougall was guilty of giving possession away too easily at times in midfield, while CJ Hamilton missed a big opportunity to get on the scoresheet for the hosts.

As for Sheffield United, much of their frustration will have been with the performance of their attackers, who struggled to make much of the press their side applied.

The likes of top scorer Billy Sharp, Morgan Gibbs-White and the returning Iliman Ndiaye were not at their best, as they struggled for the finishing touch upfront they have shown so many times this season.

What's the mood?

From a Blackpool perspective, many fans seemed optimistic in the wake of that stalemate, praising the defensive performance in particular, even if there were some left wanting in attack.

Nevertheless, there did appear to be a confidence among Seasiders fans that this can be built on with a push for the play-offs after the March international break, as they gave their Twitter verdict on the game.

By contrast, some Sheffield United remained disappointed by the performance of their side, despite an improvement from their 4-1 thrashing at Coventry on Saturday.

Others though, were also left feeling that things would have been very different, had that offside Norwood strike been awarded as a goal in their favour.
