Blackburn Rovers are eyeing up a move for former West Ham United defender Jordan Spence, reports Sky Sports.
The 24-year-old, who can play at full-back or centre-back, is available on a free transfer after being released by the Hammers at the end of the season.
A number of clubs are understood to be interested in Spence but Blackburn are believed to be the frontrunners to sign the former England Under-21 international.
Sky Sports understands the defender has joined Rovers on trial so boss Gary Bowyer can cast an eye over him.
Spence is set to feature in Blackburn’s pre-season friendly against Bury on Wednesday night.
He started his career at West Ham having come through the club’s youth academy and went on to made ten appearances for the Hammers after making his debut in May 2010, coming on as a substitute in a 1-1 draw with Manchester City.
Spence spent the majority of his time out on loan at Leyton Orient, Scunthorpe United, two spells at Bristol City, Sheffield Wednesday and two spells at Milton Keynes Dons.
It was with the MK Dons where Spence finished last season, scoring once in 19 appearances.
