Blackburn Rovers could be set to make a move for German defender Robin Bormuth, as a move for Man City centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo appears to be stalling.

According to Sky Sports' transfer centre, Rovers are now casting their eye over new targets as they put contingency plans in place in case a move for Adarabioyo does indeed fall through, with Fortuna Dusselforf ace Bormuth identified.

Bormuth has been a regular for the German side over the last few seasons, with the 23-year-old building a reputation as a consistent and solid performer over in the Bundesliga.

Blackburn manager Tony Mowbray is looking to scramble some new signings in the coming week as the season gets underway next Saturday, and with Man City man Adarabioyo's move to Ewood Park seemingly on the rocks, he has identified Bormuth as the ideal alternative.

Bormuth has progressed into the Fortuna first-team after being a regular for the second team for a number of seasons, but could well see a move to England as appealing as he looks to further his career.

Rovers are looking to build on an impressive enough season last time out as they comfortably cemented themselves back in the Championship following promotion from League One.

The Verdict

This must be frustrating for Rovers with the move for Adarabioyo stalling, but Bormuth might be a decent enough alternative.

The German has proven to be a fine defender in recent times and could well relish the chance of impressing in the Championship.

For Rovers, if they can keep adding quality to the squad and steadily improving, then a surprise run at the top six might not be completely out of the question.
