According to The Scottish Sun, Blackburn Rovers striker Anthony Stokes is near to sealing a return to Hibernian.

Anthony Stokes is expected to re-sign for Hibernian soon for his third stint with the Edinburgh based side.

Hibernian manager Neil Lennon is keen to get this deal over the line quickly as he prepares for next season's campaign back in the top flight of Scottish football.

Stokes has endured a tricky season at Ewood Park.

The 28-year-old hit the ground running with three goals in his first two games but finished the season with three in twelve.

His last league appearance was in December and he didn't feature at all under Tony Mowbray.

The Republic of Ireland international, formerly of Arsenal, Sunderland and Celtic, has had two previous spells with Hibs and now looks set to return for a third spell.

According to this report, Blackburn will let Stokes join Hibernian on a free despite having two years left on his current deal.
