Blackburn Rovers have confirmed on their official website the signing of Everton defender Shane Duffy for an undisclosed fee.
The 22-year-old has signed a three-year deal at Ewood Park, with Rovers lying 14th in the Championship after two wins from their opening five League matches.
Duffy has spent his whole career on Everton’s books after coming through the youth system at Goodison Park, although has only appeared a handful of times for the Toffees.
He spent time on loan at Scunthorpe United and Burnley in 2011, before making his Premier League debut for the Merseyside club in January 2012.
However, he was unable to force his way into David Moyes’ plans, and joined Gary Johnson’s Yeovil Town on loan in September 2013, appearing 39 times for the Glovers in their ultimately unsuccessful Championship campaign.
Duffy is on standby for the Republic of Ireland’s friendly against Oman on Wednesday and their Euro 2016 qualifier against Georgia on Sunday. He received his first cap back in May against Costa Rica.
