Blackburn set to be handed major double boost ahead of relegation battle

Published

on

According to The Lancashire Telegraph, Blackburn Rovers duo Tommie Hoban and Elliott Ward could make their much anticipated returns to football in tonight’s under-23 fixture.

Blackburn Rovers’ under-23 side take on Cardiff City at Leyland tonight at 7pm with Elliott Ward and Tommie Hoban both available for selection.

This would be a major double boost for Tony Mowbray as he would add two more defensive options to his side ahead of their upcoming relegation dogfight.

Blackburn currently sit 23rd in the Sky Bet Championship after drawing with Burton Albion and they are three points adrift of safety.

Elliott Ward is making a comeback after injuring his ankle on the opening day of the season and then suffering the same injury in October.

Tommie Hoban, who is on loan from Premier League side Watford, has been sidelined since November after undergoing surgery on his shoulder.

Both could return in the under-23 side’s cup clash tonight.
