One of the most interesting Championship games of the weekend will see Blackburn Rovers entertain Nottingham Forest at Ewood Park.

The sides are two of five teams that have picked up 14 points from their opening nine games, whilst they boast identical records, with three wins, five draws and one defeat each.

That demonstrates how Tony Mowbray and Aitor Karanka have made their sides hard to beat and suggests that with just a little bit extra they could start climbing the table by turning those draws into wins.

Here at FLW we have produced a statpack for the game, looking at some key information ahead of the clash...

Firstly, despite being the away side, the stats indicate that Forest could have the majority of the ball and that midfield battle will be crucial in deciding the outcome.

Mowbray is likely to select two of Corry Evans, Richie Smallwood and Harrison Reed in those positions and they all boast similar qualities.

They will look to disrupt Forest's rhythm and prevent the likes of Joao Carvalho and Adlene Guedioura having a positive influence on the game.

Yet, in Jack Colback, the Reds have their own enforcer in the middle and he will have a huge task on his hands in stopping Rovers best player - Bradley Dack.

Winning those individual battles will go a long way to deciding the outcome, with both sides having matchwinners in the final third.

Ultimately, everything suggests that this should be an extremely competitive and tight encounter between two sides that are evenly matched.

Yet, there were bigger expectations around Forest at the start of the season and they will hope that the recent upturn in form continues tomorrow as they look to get closer to those automatic promotion positions.
