This looks like being a big season for Blackburn Rovers, as they aim to make a serious challenge for promotion to the Premier League.

Injuries and other availability issues have hampered Tony Mowbray's side so far this season, but they do still sit 12th in the Championship table, just five points adrift of the top six after 11 games of the campaign.

But just how much is the squad that Rovers are pinning their hopes on to take them back to the top-flight of English really worth.

Here, in order to get some sort of an idea of that, we've taken a look at the ten most expensive players currently on the books at Ewood Park, based on their valuations on Transfermarkt.

One of several Blackburn players who are out of contract in the summer, it looks set to be a big season for Joe Rothwell.

The drop into a deeper holding midfield role since the start of this campaign has seen Rothwell's influence on the side increase, and the 25-year-old, who has scored five goal in 84 appearances since joining from Oxford in 2018, takes tenth on this list with a value of £1.62million.

Things haven't really clicked for Sam Gallagher since he returned to Blackburn on a permanent deal from Southampton in the summer of 2019.

The striker has struggled to make a consistent impact for Rovers, scoring just seven league goal since his move back to Ewood. But with his Premier League potential and plenty of time in his career to improve at the age of 25, Gallagher still takes ninth in this list, with a value of £1.8million.

Self-isolation issues mean that Douglas has had very little chance to make an impact for Rovers since his deadline day loan move from Leeds.

But with two Championship titles in the last three years on his CV, the left-back, whose arrival at Rovers provided some much-needed cover in that position, still looks to be good value for a place in this list, matching Gallagher's valuation of £1.8million.

It's been some start to the season for Ben Brereton, who is the only player to start all 11 league games for Rovers this season.

That run is benefitting the attacker, who is playing the best football of his Rovers career with his pace and creativity a big problem for defences, while his two goals mean he has already bettered his tally from the last two season, so seventh place on this list with a value of £2.25million seems fair.

A new central defender was another issue one the agenda for Rovers in the summer, and they eventually got their man with Daniel Ayala.

Another for whom injury problems have hindered his start to life at Ewood, but his ability and experience at this level - including promotion success with Middlesbrough in the past - mean he is well worth sixth place here, with a value of £2.25million.

Joining on loan from Championship rivals Norwich on deadline day, Trybull has looked encouragingly solid during his first few outings for Rovers.

Having claimed the second-tier title with the Canaries in 2019, the German is another who could be key for Blackburn as we move forward in the campaign, and he takes fifth in this particular set of standings, with a value of ££2.52million.

With two senior goalkeepers leaving this summer, a new number one was probably the biggest transfer priority of all for Rovers, and with Thomas Kaminski from Gent, they look to have been spot on in their attempts to fill that position.

Joining for around £500,000, Kaminski's spectacular saves, confidence with the ball at his feet and reassuring command of his defence mean he looks an absolute steal, especially with his valuation of £2.7million here.

Joining on loan from Liverpool on deadline day in the hope of regular football, Harvey Elliott's time at Blackburn so far couldn't have gone much better.

With three assists and one goal in six appearances, Elliott has taken to the Championship comfortably, and at 17-years-old the winger is only going to get better, so third place in this list with a value of £3.6million looks more than justified.

It's now just under 11 months since Bradley Dack played a competitive football for Blackburn Rovers, but it seems that wait for a return from his ACL injury could soon be over.

The anticipation is already growing around the club over Dack's long-awaited return, and if he rediscovers the form that saw him score 46 goals and provide 20 assists in 114 appearances for the club before his injury, he will still be key for the club, and he takes second place here, with a value of £5.85million.

It could certainly be argued that there are few players - if any - in the Championship who have had a better year from an individual perspective, than Adam Armstrong.

With 23 goals in all competitions since the turn of the year, Armstrong has stepped into the void left by Dack brilliantly, marking an incredible rise given he scored just five goals in 44 league matches in his first Championship season with Rovers in 2018/19.

At 23-years-old, there is also plenty of scope for him to improve further, meaning he does possess decent re-sale potential, so there will be few followers of Rovers surprised to see him top of this list with a value of £6.3million.
