Jordan Rhodes has been given the Championship Player of the Month award after a superb September, the Football League has confirmed.
Rhodes’ return from injury have Rovers the goal scorer that they had lacked while the Scotland international recovered from an ankle injury.
After his return, the former Huddersfield man scored five of his team’s seven goals this month as they moved up the table, relieving some of the pressure off Gary Bowyer.
A highlight for Rhodes will be his superb individual effort in the 2-2 draw with QPR.
His manager Gary Bowyer spoke about the player’s impact since returning from injury this month, telling the Football League site: “he’s had a fantastic month and this award is right deserved.”
“The team is playing well and creating chances and there is nobody better to get on the end of them.”
“His goals return is phenomenal, but it doesn’t come as a surprise, because the amount of work that he does on his finishing out on the training pitch is outstanding.
“He’s reaping the rewards for all the hard work that he does and this has also been recognised with his recall to the Scotland squad.”
After the international break, Rhodes will turn his attentions back to getting Rovers up the table as they travel to MK Dons next weekend.
Rovers currently sit in 15th place in the Sky Bet Championship, having accumulated 11 points from ten league games.
