Blackburn Rovers have sent out a stark warning that they are not ready to give up their striker Jordan Rhodes, amid a consistent chase from Middlesbrough, according to the Lancashire Telegraph.

The Teesside club have had their improved offer of £10 million, increasing to £12 million if they are promoted to the Premier league, rejected last week, prompting the Scottish international to come out and declare his desire to move.

But the Rovers look braced for fight to keep the player at the Ewood Park, with the club’s Managing Director Derek Shaw revealing that several bids have been met with the same response.

He said to the Gazette Live: “We’ve received an offer and the owners have turned it down.

“We have had two or three different bids for Jordan Rhodes while he’s been at the club, but the owners have always turned them down because they want to keep him at Blackburn.’’

Cash-strapped Blackburn are not enjoying their best summer in the market, with £80 million worth of debt taking its toll on the club’s activity, with nine players being offloaded to cut some losses.

But when it comes to the Rhodes saga, the Lancashire club have maintained a firm stance. This is the fifth attempt made by Boro to lure the prolific striker to the Riverside since March, with manager Aitor Karanka being a long-term admirer of the player.

The Rovers are also prepared to lose the battle to keep their top scorer Rudy Gestede, with the striker constantly being linked with a move away from Ewood Park this summer.
