According to Sky Sports, Blackburn Rovers have completed a loan deal for Taylor Harwood-Bellis, with the Manchester City man’s move set to be confirmed later on today by the two clubs.
The teenager is said to have trained with his new side today ahead of the move being rubber stamped officially as Tony Mowbray brings in yet another defender to bolster his backline following the addition of Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton earlier this month.
Capable of playing both at centre and full back, the teenager is seen as a bright prospect by City who recently handed the youngster a new contract until the summer of 2024.
It is said in the report that Mowbray would be looking to use the 19-year-old as cover for his more senior defensive options as they push for promotion.
Quiz: Are these 15 Blackburn Rovers facts genuine or not?
The defender has made eight senior appearances for the Premier League side to date.
This is a clever move by Mowbray as it gives him the opportunity to potentially utilise either a back three or four going forwards as he now has more options at the back.
Harwood-Bellis is one of the brightest prospects to come out of City’s academy in recent times and could really add some extra quality for Rovers.
The teenager will surely be relishing the chance to impress at first team level on a regular basis as he looks to impress Pep Guardiola during his temporary spell at Ewood Park.
Overall this is a great move for all parties and it will be intriguing to see how he gets on in the Championship.
