Blackburn Rovers have today let youngster Jack Evans join Nothern Premier League Premier Division side Lancaster City on-loan until the 4th January.

Jack Evans came from the academy at Ewood Park at and at just 19-years-old, has a great springboard to gather some much-needed first-team experience at Giant Axe over the next month.

The Dolly Blues currently sit second in the seventh tier of English football and are looking to push on for the title this season.

The versatile youngster has been known to operate in both central midfield and left-back throughout his academy career but spent the last year recovering from injury, so the loan move presents him a great opportunity to get back on track in the Rovers’ youth setup.

He recently returned from this injury to feature in the Rovers’ Premier League International Cup fixture against Benfica under-23s, in which they narrowly lost 2-1 to the Portuguese giants, having taken the lead, with Evans playing just less than a full game in Leyland.

This loan gives Evans the chance to potentially play six times for Lancaster, giving him ample time to build some crucial momentum for Rovers heading into the second half of the season. The youngster is in-line to make his debut at the weekend when they face Buxton.

The Verdict

A short loan spell could be exactly what the 19-year-old needs after such a long period on the sidelines. A year out at his age will have done his development mentality to some damage and to recover this, he could do with building his confidence with first-team action.

With six games to gather some momentum, this springboard could jumpstart his young career at Ewood Park.
