Blackburn Rovers man Jack Rodwell is a wanted man if reports are to be believed.

According to Italian media outlet Gianluca DiMarzio, Serie B side Livorno are interested in the 27-year-old.

It may come as a shock after being frozen out at Sunderland before his release and eventual move to Ewood Park, but there seems a real desire form the Italian side to bring the former England international to the club.

Rodwell has made ten appearances for Rovers this term as his current side occupy 10th spot in the Championship.

If the Blackburn man were to move to the second tier of Italy, he would be joining a team who are third bottom in its league, just one point off last place – and entrenched in a relegation battle.

The 27-year-old has never played abroad having been on the books of Everton, Manchester City and Sunderland before joining Rovers.

But he could soon get the chance if the Serie B side firm up their interest in the midfielder-come-defender.

The verdict

What a strange link.

Would Rodwell leave the Championship for a second-tier relegation battle in Italy?

Rovers are doing well at present, 10th in the table and six points off the play-offs after their promotion last season.

It’s all going well, and the 27-year-old is finally starting to get back to playing regularly after such a long time in the wilderness when he was at the Stadium of Light.

It doesn’t make sense to me, so I don’t see it happening at all.
