Blackburn Rovers are reportedly in talks with Bradley Dack about a new deal at Ewood Park.

According to the Lancashire Telegraph, Tony Mowbray is looking to reward the midfielder with an improved contract to move him in line with the club's top earners.

Since joining Blackburn for a fee thought to be in the region of £750,000 from Gillingham, Dack has emerged as a key player for his side.

After helping Rovers secure promotion to the Championship in 2018 by registering 27 goal contributions in the third-tier, the 25-year-old proved to be a real menace last season.

As well as providing 10 assists for his team-mates, Dack illustrated a real eye for goal as he scored on 18 occasions in all competitions.

Having marked his 100th appearance for Blackburn with a crisp strike against Reading on Saturday, the midfielder will be looking to push on over the coming months in the second-tier.

Although Dack's existing deal doesn't expire until 2021 (via Transfermarkt), Rovers will be hoping that a fresh agreement will fend off any potential interest from elsewhere.

Speaking about the midfielder following his latest goal, Mowbray said: "To score 40 goals in 100 appearances in special for a player who's not an out-and-out No.9.

"He doesn't just hang around the goal, he works his socks off, gets into the six yard box and that's some ratio for a No.10.

"You'd think that No.10's want to score spectacular goals from 25 yards but Dack scores most of his from inside the six yard box which is a fantastic credit to him that he works so hard to get that high up the pitch and contribute to our passing game as well."

The Verdict

When you consider just important Dack is to Blackburn, it is not at all surprising that they are aiming to tie him down to a new deal.

Unquestionably one of the best attacking midfielders in the Championship, the former Gillingham man could help Rovers achieve a relative amount of success in this division if he does decide to commit his future to the club.

With four goals to his name already this season, Dack could end up exceeding his total from the previous campaign providing that he avoids injury.
