Blackburn Rovers are showing a late interest in Idrissa Sylla, with the Queens Park Rangers striker emerging as a transfer target at Ewood Park.

Tony Mowbray is looking to strengthen his attacking options at Blackburn, who have started the new Championship season in good form.

According to Alan Nixon, often a reliable source on social media, Sylla is someone on Blackburn’s radar, with interest coming in the last 24 hours.

Sylla arrived at Loftus Road from Anderlecht two seasons ago, with the striker going on to make 61 Championship appearances for the R’s and returning 17 goals.

Last year, the 27-year-old scored seven goals in 27 appearances, helping Ian Holloway’s side finish mid-table in the Championship.

He’s featured on three occasions already this season under Steve McClaren, but in the last 48 hours, QPR have moved to bolster their strikeforce.

Yesterday, Nahki Wells arrived on a season-long loan from Burnley, with the forward joined through the door at Loftus Road by Tomer Hemed, who has also joined on loan for the 2018/19 campaign.

Just last week, Blackburn were linked with a move for Ben Brereton, with Rovers offering Nottingham Forest a reported £8m, but appear to have Sylla on their radar too.

The Verdict

Mowbray clearly feels that Blackburn are short going forwards, with the Blackburn boss assessing his options with a bid for Brereton on the table.

Sylla is a good striker, but perhaps isn’t the man to score Blackburn 15+ goals.

However, if given game time, and with somebody like Bradley Dack in the side, he might surprise a few at Ewood Park, should Rovers get this one over the line.
