Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Dunn has admitted that he would consider a move to League Two club Accrington Stanley.

Dunn announced this week that his 13-year association with Rovers, which has spanned over two spells at Ewood Park, would be coming to an end with his contract about to expire and the club unwilling to offer him an extension.

The 35-year-old is bound to have options in the pipeline over the coming weeks but has not ruled out a possible move to the Crown Ground, where he can regularly be found watching Stanley play.

Dunn told BBC Radio Lancashire: 'I go and watch Accrington as much as I can and I would probably say they are my second club.

'If the opportunity arises to go and play for them, then why not? If the terms were right for everyone, myself, the club - then absolutely I would consider it.'

Dunn is a one-cap England international but hasn't featured for the Blackburn first-team since the club's FA Cup victory over Swansea which was way back in January and the player will be making a decision over the coming weeks.

He continued: 'I have to keep my options open and see what is the best thing to do - not just for me, but for my family too.'

Accrington are currently in 17th place in Sky Bet League Two and operate with one of the smallest budgets in the league.

A move for someone of Dunn's experience would be seen as something of a coup for John Coleman's side.

Dunn said: 'I have a decent relationship with John Coleman and his assistant (Jimmy Bell), so if they want me to play for them it is certainly something I will have a look at.'

Accrington bring the curtain down on their season this Saturday with a home game against Mansfield Town, whilst Blackburn finish with play-off contenders Ipswich Town visiting Ewood Park.
