Blackburn, Bolton and Swansea City are all after winger David Cotterill, according to Birmingham Mail.

Cotterill had his contract cancelled with Birmingham in December, and opted to join Indian side ATK but he only played three times for them before being released as a free agent.

However, this hasn't stopped teams being interested in bringing him back to the Championship because of the experience he has at this level.

His best season in the Championship was back in 2014/15 when he scored nine times and assisted 10 for Birmingham, but he has struggled to live up to those heights since.

Although he was involved in Wales' Euro 2016 semi-finals run, which is likely to be a highlight of his career.

The Verdict

Swansea are a bit of a surprise because they could be looking at better targets with the funds they have available due to parachute payments.

Blackburn and Bolton are naturally looking for bargains due to separate reasons, so Cotterill could be a good acquisition.

At 30-years-old he is likely to be at or past his peak, so he's only likely to have a short-term impact.

Therefore, he suits the Trotters best because of their limited finances which means they are heavily reliant on short-term solutions and Phil Parkinson would get the best out him in a similar manner to Aaron Wilbraham.
