Norwich City midfielder Elliott Bennett is set to join Blackburn Rovers instead of extending his loan deal with Bristol City, according to TeamTalk.
The 27 year-old has been impressive on loan at Bristol City for the first half of the 2015/16 campaign and was set to extend his loan deal there.
However, the Norwich City man is now set to join Blackburn Rovers in a complete U-turn.
Under Steve Cotterill, Bennett has mainly been utilised as either a right back or a right midfielder and has one assist in 15 appearances for the club.
However his defensive contributions for the club are likely the reason Cotterill wants Bennett to stay at the club, as he has performed well so far and become a fans favourite.
He will be a big loss for Bristol City if he joins Blackburn and they will have to search for a replacement in this transfer window.
Blackburn Rovers boss Paul Lambert is seemingly keen to rejuvenate his squad in this January transfer window, following three consecutive defeats in the Sky Bet Championship.
