Blackburn Rovers hope to tie Ryan Nyambe down to a new contract, according to HITC Sport.

Nyambe will be offered a new and improved contract extension at Blackburn as the club look to reward him for his good performances.

The 20-year-old has impressed for Blackburn since breaking into the first-team picture at Ewood Park.

In the 2016/17 season, he played 25 league games and was a rare bright spark as Blackburn suffered relegation to League One.

Then last term, Nyambe played 35 games and was a key member of their promotion-winning campaign.

The versatile defender is comfortable playing at either left-back or right-back and can also fill in as a central defender or as a holding midfielder.

With nearly 70 senior appearances to his name already, the Namibian defender is tipped for a bright future and Blackburn want to hand him a new deal.

With just one year left on his contract with Rovers, Tony Mowbray is keen to get him to sign a new long-term deal.

The Verdict

Securing the long-term future of Nyambe would be excellent news for Blackburn.

At such a young age, Nyambe plays with experience and maturity beyond his years and he is just getting better with more game time.

He is now an established first-team regular with plenty of experience despite being so young, so a new contract needs to be a priority.
