Journalist Alan Nixon has revealed that Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Jason Steele may be set to leave the club after a bid from an as yet undisclosed club.

Steele made 44 appearances in all competitions last season, as Rovers were relegated on the final day of the Championship season, but may not form part of Tony Mowbray's bid to return the former Premier League champions to the second tier.

Steele has a wealth of experience in the second tier, with 244 career Championship appearances and 56 clean sheets, which Mowbray might have wanted to keep around as he seeks to launch a promotion push at Ewood Park at the very first time of asking.

However, it looks as if Steele might be on the move, although it is unclear whether he is being forced out or whether Mowbray has received an offer that is too good to refuse for the former Middlesbrough goalkeeper.

Steele has represented his country at a variety of youth levels - Under 16, Under 17, Under 19 and Under 21, while he also made an appearance in a friendly prior to the 2012 Olympics, as part of the specially-formed Great Britain national team.

Steele featured in a defeat to Brazil, while in the tournament proper, Team GB were knocked out on penalties at the quarter final stage by South Korea, with Steele the only member of the squad not to see a single minute of action.
