Blackburn Rovers forward, Joe Nuttall has emerged as a potential transfer target for League One side, Blackpool ahead of the new season according to Football Insider.

Nuttall struggled for regular game time in Tony Mowbray's squad last season, making 15 appearances for Rovers as they finished 15th in the Championship.

But with the arrival of Sam Gallagher over the summer, it seems highly unlikely that Nuttall is going to be able to force his way into contention for a starting spot anytime soon.

So a move to Blackpool in League One could be tempting, as he'd be guaranteed more game time than he would be getting with Blackburn next season.

Nuttall has made 29 appearances in total across a two-year-spell with Rovers, but it seems as though his days are numbered at Ewood Park.

The 22-year-old scored five goals for Blackburn when they were in League One in the 2017/2018 season, and if he can replicate that form in front of goal for Blackpool, then they'll fancy their chances of a top-six finish next term.

Blackburn get their new Championship campaign underway against newly-promoted Charlton Athletic, where they'll be hoping to get off to the best possible start with an important three points.

The Verdict:

This would be the best move for both parties involved.

Nuttall isn't going to be getting anywhere near the Blackburn starting XI next season, and it would be a smart decision if he was willing to drop down to League One with Blackpool.

The Tangerines need quality in attack, and Nuttall would certainly provide them with that, but it all depends on whether he can regain his confidence in front of goal.
