Blackburn Rovers boss Jon Dahl Tomasson has provided an update on Bradley Dack's fitness ahead of their Championship opener with QPR on Saturday.

The 28-year-old returned from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury at the back end of 2021/22, but never made a start as the season came to a close.

As such, as per Lancashire Telegraph, it is now 16 months since the attacking midfielder started a Championship fixture.

His only outing of pre-season came in Rovers' most recent friendly against Lincoln, getting valuable minutes under his belt.

Joh Dahl Tomasson suggests he needs more minutes before he is ready for a league start, though.

“He's brilliant, he can score from nothing." the Rovers boss said on Dack, via Lancashire Telegraph.

“He needs more physically but I'm very pleased he got 60 minutes and grabbed the goal.

“Perfect for him in that way, it could've been a better pre-season because he hasn't played matches.

"He's digging in, he's doing his best.”

Blackburn Rovers begin their Championship campaign with a home tie against QPR on Saturday.

Kick-off at Ewood Park is scheduled for 3PM.

The Verdict

It is positive news that Bradley Dack finally has his first pre-season minutes under his belt this pre-season.

It is a real shame how things have gone for the 28-year-old in recent seasons, however, he is back fit now, and if Rovers integrate him properly, he could once again find the fine form he has previously displayed.

We shouldn't forget that just a few seasons ago this was a player that scored 15 league goals and registered seven assists in a single campaign.

Whilst that seems a way off at present, if Dack can get back to full fitness and start contributing with goals and assists like we know he can, he could be a very valuable asset for Blackburn this season.
