Blackburn Rovers fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat to QPR last night, stretching their winless run to four Championship matches.

Tony Mowbray's side proved to be resilient for large parts of the game, but they also attacked with purpose and were unlucky not to take the lead on a couple of occasions.

Blackburn were eventually undone by Ilias Chair's excellent strike from 25 yards out, with Thomas Kaminski unable to get anywhere near his arrowed effort.

Adding further misery after conceding late on, Mowbray has spoken to Lancs Live about two fresh injury concerns, with Lewis Travis and Harry Pickering the duo involved: "They're both struggling.

"They've got huge ice packs on at the moment.

"I made changes because I feel the midfield work extraordinarily hard in our team and both Joe Rothwell and John Buckley needed a breather.

"And yet we've got a big game on Saturday where hopefully we'll have the players to get the job done against Reading."

The verdict

Going into the season, Rovers fans were anxious about the lack of squad depth, and whilst they have some excellent younger players who are breaking into the first-team environment, they are perhaps short of experienced professionals who they can rely on from the bench.

These two injuries concerns will certainly frustrate Mowbray, especially during a three-game week, but ultimately, they are in two positions where Rovers have strong replacements.

Tayo Edun, who is admittedly still adapting to his new surroundings, can certainly fill in at left-back, whilst Rovers have a plethora of midfield options.
