Rovers are eyeing a move for Robinson

Blackburn are currently under a transfer embargo due to failing to comply with the Financial Fair Play rules, meaning the club can only sign free agents and loanees.

Boss Gary Bowyer is keen to add to his striker department this summer and Robinson's versatility appeals to the Rovers manager.

The 20-year-old, who scored four goals in 25 games across two loan spells for Preston North End last season, can play up front as well as on either flank.

Villa are short on forwards at the moment following the departures of Christian Benteke, Darren Bent, Andi Weimann and Nicklas Helenius, but manager Tim Sherwood has moved to sign Jordan Ayew from French outfit Lorient.

League One side Walsall are understood to have made an enquiry for Robinson, who scored in Villa's friendly with the Saddlers at the weekend.

Rovers could be saying goodbye to strike force Rudy Gestede and Jordan Rhodes this summer as both are heavily linked with moves away from Ewood Park and Bowyer is fighting tooth and nail to keep both at the club.
