Blackburn Rovers are looking at making another move for Southampton striker Sam Gallagher in January.

The Saints striker has failed to fire yet again this term, but is now due back from injury after a lay off, and it looks like Rovers could be set to take another punt on the young forward, who they took on a similar loan spell two seasons ago.

According to Alan Nixon, Rovers manager Tony Mowbray has identified the striker as his key target in January as the club look to make a loan move for the forward.

Gallagher has spent time away from the club on numerous occasions and has failed to impress on numerous occasions away from the club, meaning his next move is vital to his development and any success he is going to have in his career.

The 23-year-old will be keen to impress if he does indeed make another move away from the Saints, and he will be hopeful of rediscovering the form he showed in his previous spell with Blackburn, when he notched 11 goals during a spell at Ewood Park.

Gallagher made his debut back in 2013 for Southampton but has failed to kick on since and looks increasingly unlikely to be a success in the top flight.

The Verdict

Gallagher must have something about him, but he needs to really start to show it if he does get a move to Rovers.

At 23, he really needs to kick on, and Blackburn will be hoping that he feels at home at Ewood Park.

It's make or break though for me, if this move fails to yield success, then we could quickly see Gallagher tumble down the leagues.
