Blackburn Rovers defender Tyler Magloire is set to join Rochdale on a season-long loan deal, as reported by the Lancashire Telegraph.
The deal to take the youngster to Spotland is set to be confirmed today, with Tony Mowbray hoping it furthers his development after a brief run in the first team.
The 20-year-old played twice for Blackburn last season, starting his first game in a win against Wigan Athletic in March. He kept his place for the 4-2 defeat at Hillsborough a week later before dropping back out of the first team squad.
Much of his football has come for the Under 23 side in the Premier League B, but Rovers now feel a spell away from the club getting senior experience will be beneficial.
It’s reported a number of clubs were interested in signing the centre back, who is known for his quick turn of pace, but Rochdale are the preferred destination.
They have a reputation for developing their own youngsters, with a number of their academy players promoted to the first team squad this season.
This is a move that won’t please the Blackburn fans one bit. Magloire is a highly-rated youngster but once again, Tony Mowbray is loaning out rather than giving him a chance.
The same has happened over the last couple of seasons with Scott Wharton; he’s had several loan spells and impressed on all of them, but he’s still gone back out this season.
It’s a worry because they do look short at the back and, unless they’re going to pick up a defender today, they’re going to be lacking cover throughout the autumn months.
