Sky Bet Championship side Blackburn Rovers are eyeing a move for Sheffield Wednesday striker Stevie May, according to HITC Sport.
May has fallen down the pecking order at Hillsborough following the signings of fellow strikers Marco Matias and Lucas Joao, and Gary Bowyer is reportedly keen on a loan deal to bring the 22-year-old to Ewood Park.
The Blackburn boss is looking to bolster his attacking options following the departure of Rudy Gestede to Aston Villa and speculation surrounding the future of talisman Jordan Rhodes, but faces competition from Rangers for the young Scottish striker.
May joined Wednesday from SPL side St Johnstone last summer, and scored seven times in 39 Championship games as the Owls recorded a 13th-place finish under Stuart Gray.
He also earned recognition from Gordon Strachan, who handed him his Scotland debut as a substitute against England last November.
The arrival of Carlos Carvalhal appears to have been detrimental for his first-team opportunities, though, and it is more than likely he will not be plying his target at Hillsborough before the deadline.
Wednesday were defeated 2-1 by Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Saturday, and they’ll be keen to pick up a win against Reading in midweek.
