Blackburn Rovers cancel Premier League starlet’s loan deal

Blackburn Rovers have confirmed on their official website that West Ham United midfielder Martin Samuelsen would return to the Premier League side after his loan deal was cut short.

Championship strugglers Blackburn have terminated Samuelsen’s loan deal with immediate effect.

The Norway international has been limited to just four appearances for Blackburn Rovers this season, with only two of them being starts.

Martin Samuelsen joined Rovers in August on a season-long loan deal but this has been prematurely cancelled due to his lack of playing time.

Owen Coyle revealed that the decision was made because he couldn’t promise West Ham or Martin Samuelsen that the youngster would be getting regular playing time.

The 19-year-old is an exciting and tremendously skillful winger with plenty of potential and he shone during a loan spell at League One outfit Peterborough last term.

Owen Coyle has not handed him the chances to replicate this at Ewood Park, though, and has previously urged Samuelsen to be more effective rather than trying to do too much.

The Norwegian teenager is highly rated by West Ham fans, some of whom are already calling for him to be accelerated straight into the first team picture at the London Stadium.

Samuelsen had the last laugh when he scored for West Ham’s under-23 side against Blackburn in a Premier League 2 fixture between the two sides, just the day before his loan was terminated.
