Blackburn Rovers boss Tony Mowbray has revealed that he has heard nothing but good things about Rekeem Harper, whom he signed on a season-long loan on deadline day last week.

The 17-year-old made his Premier League debut earlier on this season for West Brom against Bournemouth on the opening day of the season, and featured in the Baggies’ 3-1 victory against Accrington in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

When asked about one of the newest additions to his side, Tony Mowbray had this to say to the Lancashire Telegraph:

“Young Rekeem Harper, the reports I have had back from the scouting department, and from people I trust in football, they have told me what a fantastic talent he is.”

Harper could make his debut as early as this weekend away from home against Rochdale but it is likely that Mowbray will ease him in slowly.

The Verdict

It is good to hear Mowbray talking so positively about such a young talent joining his squad.

It sounds like he has the confidence in the 17-year-old’s ability to really give him a go and offer him some first team football this season which will be instrumental in Harper’s development.

He looked good against Bournemouth and Accrington for West Brom and getting some consistent football under his belt will surely only make him look better.
