Blackburn Rovers boss Gary Bowyer has admitted he’s preparing for life without top scorers Jordan Rhodes and Rudy Gestede, and compares the situation to Luis Suarez and Gareth Bale.

Jordan Rhodes arrived for an incredible £8 million from Huddersfield Town in 2012 and has had an explosive career at Ewood Park, netting an amazing 74 goals in 143 games at the club.

Rudy Gestede arrived from Cardiff City in January 2014 following a loan spell at Rovers. He’s had a terrific goalscoring record at Blackburn ever since making the switch, scoring 12 times since making the permanent switch in 2014.

He then went on to score another 20 in the League this year.

Blackburn have a striking pair that most lower half of the league teams would pay hand over fist for, and the two would do well in the Premier League, and after plenty of speculation over the past few years, it seems their time is up at Ewood.

Bowyer told the Lancashire Telegraph: “I think the owners have showed that unless their valuation is met then nobody leaves.

“So we’re planning with them (Rhodes and Gestede) and you have to plan without them as well.

“You can’t be naive to think that if somebody comes in with an unbelievable offer we’d be any different than any football club.

“Look at Tottenham with Gareth Bale and Liverpool with Luis Suarez. There comes a point when you can’t stop it.”

Rhodes has been linked to Middlesbrough, Crystal Palace, Derby County and Swansea City this summer, after Bowyer rejected a bid for him from Hull in the summer.

Meanwhile Gestede has been linked with switches to West Ham, as well as Crystal Palace.
