Blackburn Rovers and Queens Park Rangers are eyeing a move for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Taylor Richards, it has emerged.

As per Football Insider, the Championship clubs have enquired with the south coast club regarding the 21-year-old's availability this summer.

If Richards were to make the move to the Championship this summer, it would not be his first loan move to the EFL, nor the division.

Back in 2020/21, the youngster spent the season out at Doncaster Rovers in League One, where he impressed.

Scoring 10 league goals and registering five League One assists, the youngster was part of a Donny side that finished the campaign comfortably mid-table in the third tier.

After a productive loan spell in League One, a move up to the Championship followed during the second half of last campaign, with Richards linking up with a struggling Birmingham City.

Suffering with injury for the majority of the time he was temporarily on the books at St. Andrews, Richards never really got the run of games in the second tier, nor the real test of his ability, that he and Brighton were looking for.

The Verdict

A move to either of these clubs would be a good move for Taylor Richards last summer.

He really impressed for Doncaster a couple of seasons back, and now needs a full-season at Championship level to really show what he can do.

On the surface of it, his loan spell at Birmingham last season was a disaster, but he was unlucky with injury during his time there.

The 21-year-old will want to put that behind him going into 2022/23 and if regular game time isn't available at Brighton, QPR or Blackburn, two sides that will be top half Championship teams next term, would be ideal destinations for the youngster.
